Add & Edit container layout

I've been already posting about my issues (Concrete 5.7.5.6 @Chrome 49.0.2623.110 m (64-bit) in relation to Adding and Editing container layouts.

Namely, whenever I choose to Add Layout, I am forced to either Save or Publish the changes first -- otherwise the area where the layout has been added appears completely static, with no visible signs of any editable area, columns or anything else (no colored outlines at all).

Upon page reload (save or publish option), re-entering Edit mode makes everything OK again.

I also noticed that choosing Edit container layout doesn't allow for changing the number of columns (at least with Bootstrap grid, which I'm always using) but rather only moving or deleting the layout. Is this part of my issue actually working as expected or should one be able to actually change the number of columns in the grid?

Hi java9,

"Namely, whenever I choose to Add Layout, I am forced to either Save or Publish the changes first -- otherwise the area where the layout has been added appears completely static, with no visible signs of any editable area, columns or anything else (no colored outlines at all)."

Using the default Elemental theme, I am able to create a layout and start using it after it has been saved. I do not need to save or publish the page first.

Are you using a custom theme?

Do you have any browser console errors when creating a layout?

I believe the number of grid columns cannot be changed after the layout has been saved. To increase or decrease the number of grid columns, you will likely need to create a new layout and move the items into it.
