404 on external form submit

Hi there,
I need help setting up an external form. I am getting a 404 error on submit. and the Report/Form Results states "There are no available forms in your site". Also anyone has any idea how to set the recipient email. I am surprised how little documentation is available, I am having second thoughts on moving to 5.7
