5.7.4 Release Candidate 1 Is Now Available
Permalink 1 user found helpful
Hey everyone – just wanted to let you know that the first release candidate for 5.7.4 is now available.
This is a big release. We've updated to redactor 10, added a lot of functionality to conversations, added a completely new help system, and a lot more. We've also fortified a lot of the APIs under the hood, and swapped a number of systems out completely. Yes, there's a full upgrade from any version of 5.7 up to this one, but since this is such a big release we wanted add-on developers to get a chance to kick the tires on it in a proper way.

(Seriously. Give them a read. There's a lot to be excited about in here.)

This is awesome news Andrew, it sounds like you all have been very busy. The list of updates is impressive. Good work!
Now Jakob's question has me curious, if we develop in 5.7.3, we'll be able to upgrade to 5.7.4 also, right? If we are just fixing to start converting a new site from flat HTML, should we start in the RC or in the latest stable?

You'll be able to update from 5.7.3 to 5.7.4 with no problems. If it were me I'd probably start with the release candidate for 5.7.4, simply because it fixes so many bugs – but either one would do.
Thanks for the reply, Andrew. I'll start on 5.7.4. <<rubs hands in gleeful anticipation>>
Hi,
Will RC1 be available for download from my host, Go Daddy? Thanks.

Actually I don't know, but I believe that it will not because it is a release candidate and not ready yet to be used on productive sites. But you can download and install it yourself.
Instructions how to install it yourself can be found here:http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/developers/5.7/installation/...

Wow, much changes, we´ll done! Thank you!
But would it be possible to use the auto update-function in 5.7.4? I really miss this function in C5 Version 5.7 for my three C5-Websites. They will still running 5.6 without the auto update-function- that would not be nice?
So please, please reactivate this feature, that would be great! :-)

To clarify (just in case), there is no way to automatically update from Concrete5 version 6 (5.6) to Concrete5 version 7 (5.7)
What I mean is the auto-update-function in one Version, e.g. from 5.7.1 to 5.7.2, from 5.7.2 to 5.7.3 an so on...
No Migration, just an update...
No Migration, just an update...
This might be a stupid question, but when I develop a site right now with the RC will I be able to update (effortlessly) to the stable version when it's finished?
