Cannot delete Page Type Attribute from page type

i've copied blog page type and created my own product page type. However i cannot delete any of the page type attributes from that page type. I've investigated the ajax response and as you can see in the screen shot it says: "Attribute cleared successfully."

I believe the attributes page for a page type lists all available page attributes.
If the attribute shows a value of "none", the attribute is not being used/set.
In the default sample content, the Blog Entry page type has no attributes set.
