Can't add blocks to stacks

Whenever I try to add a block to a stack I am constructing, nothing happens. I click on the block to add (content, feature, file, etc.) but no block adds and there seems to be no communication between the browser and the server. I do my developing in Chrome but have tried this in Firefox and IE as well, with the same results.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any known solutions and/or suggestions?

You say you are clicking on a block to add it but in 5.7. You drag the block from the 'Add' panel onto your page.
When you're in page edit mode, you are correct. However, I'm talking about creating stacks within Dashboard > Stacks & Blocks > Stacks. Then I choose to edit my custom stack, and select "Add Block." That gives me a vertical list similar to what we saw in 5.6 when editing pages. I've attached a screen shot to show what I'm talking about.

Sorry, I need to read better before answering. Any errors showing up in your JavaScript console? Ctrl+Shift+J
