Change add-on domain to main domain (?) URL change (?)

Firstly - apologies in advance for my lack of technical knowledge. I make jewellery and created my own website after much trial and error. If there is another discussion or documentation on this please let me know and I can cancel this request for help.
A couple of years ago I created my website (adornate.co.uk) in version 5.6 (now 5.6.3.2). However, I wanted to upgrade this to 5.7 and found that there was no migration path.
So rightly or wrongly, I created a new domain (taleimade.co.uk - which is appearing in my addon domain section in cpanel) to develop my site again in v5.7.3.1, and I am now ready to "go-live" with it.
I would like to overwrite my original 5.6 website with this updated 5.7 version and use the original URL (adornate.co.uk)
Could anyone send me a link to a help file or let me know how to do this?

I think there should be a documentation on how to do this somewhere.
Basically, you download the contents of ftp completely from the new site and upload it to the old site.
The only file you should leave intact ist the config.php that contains the information on database name, server and password.
I'm afraid I don't know where it is located in c5.7
Then you export the database from your new site and import it into the database of your old site.
There may be other steps I am unaware of, but it shouldn't be too tricky
