Concrete5 5.7.4 Now Available!

Permalink 1 user found helpful
It is with great pleasure that I'm announcing the release of Concrete5 5.7.4. This release has been in development for awhile, so it feels good to get it out there. It's a big one. We've got conversation updates, a new help system, tons of bug fixes, the rich text editor update, lots of developer updates and more:

As with any big release there will likely be some hiccups, although hopefully the release candidate stage ironed out most of those. Please give it a spin and let us know what you think.

I have updated a test site from 5.7.4RC1 to 5.7.4.
After the update I am unable to edit pages with Firefox.
Left click over blocks and areas does nothing.
Blocks can't be moved or added to the page.
I have tried Element plus two other market place themes.
The console shows the following error,
TypeError: Concrete.EditMode is not a constructor
new Concrete.EditMode();
index.p...f0c2d24 (line 2159, col 1)
This does not occur in Chrome or IE.

I did try to post a bug report but there appears to be a bug and when i post the timer stays and it does not post.

Edit - This also happens with RC2
Edit 2 Re-ran the upgrade script and the problem was fixed

I just manually updated RC2 to 5.7.4 and I'm not seeing these issues with FF. Mac OSX over here.

Awesome!

So many fixes and adjustments, it's a massive update.
For those that haven't used 5.7 yet, now is a great time to check it out.

(Andrew, check that download link!)

Yaaaaay!

But I see that 5.7.4 only include the translations as of 4/24.

Would you be able to grab the latest translation?

In meantime, for those of who happened to install old translation.
Here is the useful add-on made by Hissy to update to the latest translation files.

If you're updating from older version of 5.7.x, you would need the above add-on

Just for the fun of it, we launched a little video to announce the arrival of concrete5 5.7.4.

By this we hope that even more new users will find the way to concrete5.

First of all, Thank You!

Questions:
- Is there an update script from 5.7.3.1?
- What are the risks when doing an upgrade of a live-site?

BTW thehttp://www.concrete5.org/documentation/download... link is broken

First... Be careful with the cache. Clear it and switch it off (gave me a small problem at first).

1. Make a backup of your database
2.Then create a folder in your root (just beside /concrete) and call it /concrete574.
3. Copy the content of /concrete from the concrete5.7.4.zip you downloaded to the /concrete574 folder you just created.
4. Now, be sure you are logged in to your site as an administrator.
5. Rename /concrete to /concrete_old
6. Rename /concrete574 to /concrete
7. Go to the url:http://yoursitename.com/index.php/ccm/system/upgrade...
8. Follow the instructions
9. If all went well you can delete /concrete_old
10. If it fails, then rename the folders back to where you started and see if everything is alright. If not, reload your database backup

Will the "Update Concrete 5" link in settings work in the future, or do I have to do a manual install like you suggested?

I can't see why not. I will expect the update functionality to be implemented when there is absolutely no danger of crashing sites.

I personally always do it manually (like to have control). And you have to understand that by hitting that install button, you are initializes a variety of events.

But people expect this functionality, so I believe it will come soon.

BTW. Always remember to take a database backup - crucial!

Thank you maar! Your short guide worked like a charme! For others:
Be aware of the cache part (if exists) in
/application/config/generated_overrides/concrete.php
should look as follows:
'cache' => array(
        'blocks' => false,
        'assets' => false,
        'theme_css' => false,
        'overrides' => false,
        'pages' => '0',
        'full_page_lifetime' => 'custom',
        'full_page_lifetime_value' => '0'
    ),

I'm abit confused about the caches:
In the dashboard, all caches are off. But in the
application/config/generated_overrides/concrete.php
the 'cache' part looks as follows:

'cache' => array(
        'blocks' => true,
        'assets' => true,
        'theme_css' => true,
        'overrides' => true,
        'pages' => '0',
        'full_page_lifetime' => 'default',
        'full_page_lifetime_value' => null
    ),

- Perhaps this was also the problem when I tried to move a site? (Still trying BTW).
Everything was fine after moving files and db, until clicking on a link or trying to login, etc -> Page blank or not found or 500 Internal Server error. When deleting manually everything inside the folder files/cache the site was running again until changing page....

- So that's why I'm writing here, because my thought was to upgrade to 5.7.4 and then moving the site. What do you think about?

- Another issue (I think) could be the PHP Version, which is 5.3.21 running as fast CGI-application, BUT on the 'old' site, the settings were exactly the same and no problems...

Would be really glad to have some feedback on this.

I downloaded this off the Download page and when I went to install it I go a PHP Error and blank white screen, the error is

PHP Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message '"core/app" is not a valid asset group handle

Anybody else having this issue? This is a clean install on a server that is running 5.7.3.x with no problems.

Those asset handles are defined in config/concrete.php. Is the webserver able to read that file?

I must have gotten a corrupted download or something, I tried a new one and put it on a new URL and everything works now.

This morning I reported this in bugtrack. I have found that websites in the url cause a 500 error, I found this when trying to install RC1 and RC2 for testing, so :-
concrete5_7_4rc1 => 500 internal error
concrete574rc1 => installer runs

Do you have underscores in your url?

Hi,

I tried to install the release 5.7.4.2 as new Installation on my webserver (where older C5-Versions ran without Problems). I get this error:

is_dir(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/tmp) is not within the allowed path(s): (/var/www/%mywebserver%/html/:/var/www/%mywebserver%/phptmp/:/var/www/%mywebserver%/files/:/var/www/%mywebserver%/atd/:/usr/share/php/:/opt/php/).

What can i do?
