PHP version running on my hosting server is version 7.0
Found out I could roll back php from 7.0 to 5.6. Made 5.6 current. websites working.
Maybe now I can upgrade?

Version 5.7.3.1 of concrete5 is fairly old and likely does not have the fixes in place to use PHP 7. I recommend using the most current version of 5.7 (5.7.5.13).
