Form Select dropdown: how to specify a default?

I have a form with a select dropdown. Instead of the default choice being "--", it would be better to have something like "Choose from this list" or something similar.

Is there a way to do this other than hacking the main form block?

There isn't, really. I always do make my own HTML, not using the mini_survey to "loadInputType" (that's the function that does the ---- thingy). The mini survey is quite poor with attributes on the inputs/selects, so I rather write them myself.

If you want something specifically, I can put together something for you? It will only be a view.php file then of course (so no hacking, just putting it into applications/blocks/form/).

Hi Ramon,
If you want to make a nice bit of change, make an advanced form block similar to what's available for 5.6. The current 5.7 forms are sorely lacking.

But aside from that, I actually might need your help in creating a rather complicated form. Shoot me an email and let me show you what I need. Then if you could give me a quote.

Thanks.
