Form Submission Email Date Format: 2015-05-06... need to put year last

How do you modify this? There was another post about the date format being in US English and to go into Basic/Language settings and change it, but it's already set to US English which should, unless I learned our language incorrectly, put the year last and the date output as mm/dd/year. This is what it looks like now on all form submissions: 2015-05-06

Anyone know how to change this? I have not modified any language settings, so I am confused why the the date formatting leads with YEAR. I need it to be mm/dd/year, not year/mm/day like it seems to be in the emails we are getting when a form is submitted.
