How to change page types?

Hi, I'm struggling with the ability to change a page to a certain page type. I'm not talking about page templates. Can it be done or we need to recreate the pages from scratch with the new type?

Hi

What exactly is the issue? Have you gone to the page and tried to change it under "Design" in the slide out panel?
Do you get an error message?

Thanks

The Design tab only let's you change templates, not Page Types. For example, I want to restrict "Y Page Type" to only be published under "X Page Type", but the structure pages have already been created with a generic "Z Page Type". Now I want to change that "Z Page Type" on those already created pages to "X Page Type" so that when I go and create a new "Y Page", the location is restricted to X Page Type. This works well if I recreate the structure pages with the new X Page Type, but it would be easier to be able to just change it like you can change templates.

You can switch page types in the sitemap through the Design & Type menu (theme and page template can also be switched there).
- full sitemap
- click on the desired page
- click the Design & Type menu item from the menu popup
- select the desired page type from the Page Type select dropdown

You can control where page types are published through the Basic Details page of the page type.
- Basic Details page
Dashboard > Pages & Themes > Page Types > Basic Details button
- look for the "Publish Method" section to set the publishing rules for that page type

Awesome. That's exactly what I wanted. The control part I knew and was using it, the problem was change page types. Why is this option not available through the Design Tab in Edit Mode? Is there a setting somewhere to add it there too?
Anyway, sitemap option is enough!

Thank you!
