How to manually update to 8.2

Permalink 1 user found helpful
I have a couple of C5 websites and cannot update any of them to the current build.
Site No 1 - 5.7.5.13 update to Version: 8.2.1. - I get this error: "copy(/home/qldnetcm/public_html/newqldnet/updates/concrete5-8.2.1_remote_updater/concrete/css/image-editor/filters/gaussian_blur.css): failed to open stream: No such file or directory"

Site no 2 - Concrete5 version 8.2.1 - upgrade to concrete5 is 8.3.2 - /index.php/dashboard/system/backup/update - "Error 404".

I am unsure where to go to manually update these websites - I am not a developer in a code sense at all. There seems to be very little information since we moved across from 5.6 which was always extremely well supported by the community.

It feels like C5 has moved on into a developer based platform - which leaves folk like myself stuck with existing websites and little direction; which is unfortunate.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated;

cheers Ian

Hi Ianwil01,

Here is a video tutorial on manually updating concrete5.

There were two update bugs in the last few version 8 releases that are now fixed in 8.3.2.

I was also having an issue upgrading and I found a solution that worked. I was running version 8.4.0 and trying to upgrade to 8.5.1. When I went to the dashboard to check for updates it said: Apply Downloaded Update - No updates are ready to be installed. The auto update feature wasn't detecting anything. I tried a manual update as well following the instructions in the video but it kept updating to version 8.4.0.

What worked: I downloaded version 8.5.1 and uploaded the zipped folder to the updates folder on our site's file manager. Then I unzipped the folder using the site manager. After that it showed up using the auto update tool on the dashboard and the update to 8.5.1 completed successfully.
