Idea to improve the workflow of adding multiple blocks
Permalink
I've noticed a fair amount of comments about the block sidebar and having to open and close it between block adds.
The idea is the ability to pin it open when you know you are going to be adding multiple blocks.
Add sidebar default behavior and pinned open.

I vote +1 for this idea, I think you should create a github issue for this :)
I'm afraid I don't have a Github account.
I just created a github issue for you (quoting this forum) :

Adding multiple blocks is currently quite frustrating.

I'm not sure if this should be an option or simply the default behaviour. The Dashboard, Add Pages and Settings panels all stay open until you choose some other function (or toggle the panel by re-clicking the title) and so I think the behaviour of the Add panel should be consistent. Currently, if you change you mind about adding a specific block, you can drop the block into any 'dead' area of the page and the Add panel re-opens so we're almost there already.
+1 here too. I've been frustrated with this when adding multiple blocks to a page.
I just made a pull request to get a similar behavior:

Nice job, I think this would work well.
Do you think people will ask for some type of visual feedback that the Add panel is pinned open? Something like the Add panel text/icon changes color or its background color changes?

Well, there is:
When the + button gets the click, it gets replaced by the spinner (the blue spinner glowing). So for me that does the trick.
If andrew wants me to change that I can have another go (like adding the same green background as the edit button gets when it is on, or something like that) :)

I like the idea of the pinned open Add panel having the same green background as the Edit button.
I made a screenshot of it.

well that would require me a bit more work I guess :/
Let me check how I can pull that together.

done, this was actually rather simple :)
Wow, that was fast.
I think a lot of people would find this useful. You didn't make any severe changes that the core team would object to either - making a much easier decision to approve the pull request.

Well, my daughter (2.5yo) keeps on getting up this night, so I stay by her room coding waiting for the next wake up :)
by that time I occupy myself not to fall asleep myself (btw, it is 5am here :/)
