What version of concrete are you using on you site that has gone corrupt?

I have two sites running in c5.4.1.1 that got broken after the php version was upped by the hoster. The only way round this problem is setting up the site in either 5.7.x.x or 5.6.x.x.
I use a free hosting service for this purpose, set up the new site in c5.6.x.x, installed the theme, copied the edited css files for my theme to the free ftp, installed all the add ons I'm using on the free ftp, replace all the add ons that will not work with the new c5 version anymore and when I'm finished with the site on free hosting I migrate it back to the real URL. This is done like a migration: Download ftp completely from new site, export database from free site. Upload the ftp content completely except config.php to new site and import the database .
I don't think there's any other way to update. But your temp site is in c5.7, so what was you site originally? I don't understand how issues with php version can arise unless your site is running on a really old version like mine.
My sites were not updated in 5 years.

Maybe you should move your hosting. I've got a server you could run it on. It's running PHP 5.3 on Ubuntu 12.04 and has my one remaining C5.4 site running quite happily (too much bespoke to upgrade). It lives in Auckland too :)
