recover from errors

I am new to concrete5 and am trying 5.7

I have a situation where I tried to put in an image. There is something wrong with the image and I get an error message. The problem is that I can find no way of recovering from this without reinstalling concrete 5.7. I had saved this version, but not approved it.
I tried going back versions, even deleting later ones, but none of this worked.
Along the way, I discovered that you can't delete approved versions, but the version at issue had not been approved.

Please tell me what I can do in this situation. In this case, I had only just started so starting from the beginning again is not a major issue. However, it would be helpful to know how to recover from this sort of thing in the future.

What is the error message?

You can reproduce this by simply
1) drop an image block and select the image
2) Save page (but don't approve)
3) go to files and delete the image.

How do you recover? My error was different, but this will show up the problem and is easy to reproduce.

I can't reproduce this in 5.7.2 – perhaps this is an issue that was fixed in an upgrade.
