Rolling up the sleeves to move a stie from 5.6 to 5.7

Permalink
OK, I have to migrate a site and the only choice is to rebuild it on 5.7. I have a few questions;

1. I was using Greek Yogurt. Any suggestions on the most similar of the themes? I just need a similar nav bar, header image and mostly open area pages because we used our own scripting.
2. Has anyone else done this and documented the steps?
3. We were pretty heavy on writing our own php and single pages. Are there major gotchas or bugs with including scripts?
4. Has anyone done a fullscreen video player addon?

Hi spiraljetty,

Have you installed 5.7 and explored it yet?

Have you had a chance to read through the 5.7 documentation to get familiar with some of the new features?

By full screen, do you mean that the video can be placed as a full screen background or able to be played full screen?

I've just started looking through the Essential theme to see which of the layouts I can use.
I'll go check the documentation. I have done some small bits of editing. Thank you for pointing out the documentation.

What I was asking about was a Full Screen video editor. I have planned to add training video's to the site and don't want them to be on an external server. I was asking about a full screen video player because in 5.6 it seems like the only options were addons for youtube or vimeo.

There is an MP4 player for playing local videos.

Also, 5.6 had "Media Hosting" which did that (along many other cool things :) ). I will port this addon to 5.7 hopefully in april/may (currently working on the others).
