Setting default permissions 5.7.2
Permalink
Hi,
I am struggling here.. sorry if this is posted elsewhere but I can't find anything.
in 5.6 you can set the permissions for a page type by going in the defaults for the page type and going into permissions. There is a full set of permissions (i'm using advanced perms). In 5.7 I go into the defaults for a page type and the cog for the settings doesn't show which means I can't get to the permissions.
for example I have the blog page which i don't want contributors to be able to change in any way but they can add sub-pages but when they add a sub-page they can't add to the composer or delete their draft etc because the parent doesn't allow it.
How do I do this? I can't seem to find it. The permissions in the page type dashboard only gives me Add Page Type, Edit Page Type Permissions and Edit Page Type Drafts.
Any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks

This is a bug. There's currently no way to set these permissions. We hope to bring them back very shortly.
Okie dokie, Thanks for the quick response.
So for anyone else that stumbles upon this in the very near future until this bug is fixed all I have done to get round this is..
1. set the permissions for the sub pages in the parent page and set the sub pages to adopt the permissions of the parent.
2. lock down the areas within the parent page so the contributors can put the page in edit mode but can't actually edit any of the areas.
and voila crude but works, the only downside is they can delete the parent page but it they do that I reserve the right to challenge them to a thumb war!
also.. don't forget to add the same permissions to the drafts page in your sitemap too otherwise your users can't edit/delete their drafts etc
p.s. I am hoping a thumb war is the same thing across the world as it is in the UK and I haven't just posted some massive offence.
