The stripe payment module had multiple breaking issues. The developer was notified, but didn't fix them, so it was deleted from the marketplace.

Out of curiosity, did it pass muster as far as the PRB is concerned when initially released and then subsequent updates made it unstable? Or did the "breaking issues" get by the PRB?

I think it may have been not quite up to scratch, so we allowed it to go live but unapproved. Other issues showed as 5.7 core updates were released that became too numerous and severe for it to remain.
I have a Stripe add-on for the Vivid Store built (it's actually part of a more generic add-on that uses Omnipay), it's just not something I'm planning to add to the marketplace at this time.
It handles both the Stripe 'checkout' button (with their nice overlay), as well as a more traditional on-page form, with lots of validation.

This is back in for review. Should be out shortly as well as a handful of shipping methods (USPS, UPS, FedEx)
