Swipe event handling

(This is probably a question for Korvin, but anyone else feel free to chip in)
I am looking at adding swipe event handling to some addons. There are several jQuery compatible swipe plugins, many of which compete for variations of the same 'swipe' namespace. I suspect they would be mutually incompatible if added to the same page.
With c5.7 on the way, I would obviously like to make whatever I do compatible with whatever swipe event handling 5.7 will be using, so avoiding namespace collisions.
What swipe event handling is already in or is planned for c5.7 ?

We don't yet have one in the core, but I imagine as we dial in our mobile interface that will change. When it does we will post about it. Until then any feedback about developers' experience with particular libraries that add this functionality would be very helpful.
