Topic list?

What is a topic list? The 57-step plan on creating one doesn't actually say what it is or why I would want to.

You can think of topics as categories to organize and filter your pages.

For instance, when you install concrete5 with the default sample content, two topic trees are created for you: the Blog Entries and the Projects topic tree. Those topic trees contain the categories for the Blog and the Portfolio.

So you want to use the Topic List block to: 1) display a list of topics and 2) filter the Page List by topic

I was actually looking for something that would create a sortable list of linked topics, so I guess this isn't it. Thanks for answering!
