Using the Select Attribute

Hi,
I've been thinking about the 'Select' attribute and was thinking that it would be a great way to create linkage from a child page to multiple parent pages.
To reiterate, lets say I have a page type that is called 'dataset' and I also have a page type called 'data'. When I add a new 'data' page, I want to have a select list of 'dataset' pages where I can select multiple values.
I realise that this would probably have to be a complete custom attribute. Something like the Page Selector Attribute would work, however I can only select one option.
Also, I have come across the Multi Page Selector Atrribute by Mesuva, however it is not 7.5 Compatible.
