Cannot edit after upgrade to 5.6

Hi after updating to concrete 5.6 I cannot edit or add any blocks, I have had a fatal error message a few times but mostly everything just appears blank when I try to edit.

I read a few posts from people who are having the same problem and a couple have solved the issue but I am a novice and know nothing about the general layout or coding of websites and cannot follow the solution given.

If anyone could give me a step by step of how to fix this issue in its simplest form that would be much appreciated

thank you

I'm having the same problem. This is the first post I've found on the subject. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Th3GateKeeper,

This is the post you're looking for. It explains it in fairly simple terms.

What is the fatal error message you are getting? Can you post it so we're sure we know what we're dealing with?

I have tried editing and adding blocks again but I cannot get the fatal error message to re-appear now.

Everything is blank when I try to edit and if I try to type nothing appears, if I hit backspace when I am trying to edit it signs me out.

I am going to have a look at the post above and see if it helps

Thanks

Ok I also found that post and it does not make sense to me. I don't understand: "3. Copy the "concrete" subdirectory from this new archive over your previous directory." I have no idea where any of that is.

Also people posted this as a solution:

Solved it by coping

root/concrete/libraries/3rdparty/JSON/JSON.php

to

root/concrete/models/json.php

Again I have no idea where to find this :(

Do you have FTP access your server? Have you ever used a program such as Filezilla?

Do you have access to your C5 dashboard? I understand from other discussions that clearing the cache helps sometimes. If you can get to the Dashboard, type 'cache' into the Intelligent Search box and click on "Clear Cache".

Try this before we get into anything deeper.

yes i have access to the dashboard, i will try this now and let you know how it goes, thank you very much

Can you check to see if you have a package called "Tweetcrete" installed? Go to "Dashboard->Extend Concrete5" and look for Tweetcrete.

If it's in your list, click it's 'Edit' button and then the 'Uninstall' button.

If you don't have Tweetcrete installed then we'll have to investigate something else. Can you email your hosting company and ask them how you find out what your FTP password and username is? This login info will allow you (or someone else you authorize) to get into your server to look around for problems.

I have not downloaded any add-ons and do not have tweetcrete, i will e-mail my hosting site now and find that out

Ok hosting site have been completely useless and sent me an automated reply with a link to some video tutorials that have no relation to what I asked them. Therefore I dont think I will be able to find out my FTP username and password.

Any other ideas that we could try that may help with this issue?

Thanks again for the help
