Flash Audio block released

Hey,

I just released the Flash Audio block on the marketplace.

This is a good alternative if you are looking for a clean MP3 player that's integrated into Concrete.

I'd love to hear feedback, so let me know if it's missing a must-have feature for you or if you have any other ideas for how to publish your content even better.

Thanks and have a great day!

Hi!

I would like to know if there is others skins for this player? Can we easily make one of these skins?

What about playing list?

Will it have the volume button and time of the song?

Thanks.

Would you mind if I asked you a couple of questions?

I haven't figured out how to handle skinning, because I'm not sure whether the average concrete5 developer has Flash.

I could release the source code with the block, which would make it simple to edit the design of the player for each website. However, this would require Flash and possibly some Flash programming experience.

Concrete has both an image block and a slideshow block. In that sense, this is the image block for audio. If I support playlists it will have to be in a bigger player that's specifically designed for that. As it stands, the player can be used multiple times to accommodate multiple files.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how important would you say that a volume button and time display are? I want the player to be simple, clean and straightforward, but of course it should include all of the most important features. I never use volume controls ... I just turn down my speakers :)

Thanks for the feedback, and let me know what you think

Ok. You have many questions, let's try...

Skin:
You can customize a skin through an XML file; exemple:http://www.wimpyplayer.com/docs/mp3/index.php?m=skin&p=skin_mac...

Or

Have a really good simple one, like:
- a play/pause button
- a stop button
- times; exemple: 00:00/15:00
- playing bar with his indicator
- a volume button ('cause some users have difficulty to adjust it on their computer very quickly; with this button, it's more convenient. But I agree with you, it's not essential, but practical. On a scale for me and probably no everyone would agree: 7).
- background choices: white, black, grey
=>see the file attached with this message<=

or/and

a really small and simple one:
- a play/stop button (like we see everywhere on the net
=>see the second file attached<=

About the options, that I think would be great to have for the player:
- auto start on/off
- the possibility to select the file within the file manager of concrete5.
-------------------------

What else?

That the user can create easily something like this:

[No.] [title] [duration] [audio player]

Exemple:

51. I just turn down 09:33 [>]

I hope it will help you a little bit.
Thanks for your open mind; much appreciated.

Hey ymne, thanks again for the feedback!

I wasn't sure if you had seen all the features of the player, so here are a few highlights:

- Customizable background color
- Customizable auto-play
- File manager integration

FYI:

I posted a few extra examples of the player, without the title and description and in different colors

For developers who need even more customization, I am now including the source files for the player with each purchase. Editing the FLA directly is certainly the easiest way to truly customize the skin.

Let me know if this would help you

Hum...

I saw many users that don't know how to handle flash file, whatever they have the source FLA.

Most of the times, the player comes with some predefined skins or/and a customization through an XML editor.

What do you think?
I like the skins that I gave you in my previous post.

Hum...

I think that the user need also to have a really simple skin like the one I posted you in my previous post (exemple 2), no?

Those that you offer, it's too big for nothing I think, but it's just an opinion.

Think about someone who want to make a webpage with several like you offer. It would be awful on his page; he need a really tiny one button and in light color, no? Please, make sure that you give the possibility for the buyer to have this kind of skin predefined. If you do that, it would be perfect!

Alright, I want to go with custom templates on this. XML is too abstract and a skin editor is too much work for something so simple.

If the designs you sent me were all in Flash I could turn them all into alternate versions of the player for $20. They'd work great for your projects but the next developer will still have their own styles in mind.

I'll take this all into consideration as to whether I should make more default styles. Meanwhile, I can crank out new skins really quickly if someone wanted to pay for it. I'm not charging much for this add-on and I have yet to show any profit for it :)

Otherwise by default. However,

What about the 1PixelOut audio player? It's a great player, it have all the essentials, it's small and extend just by a click. It's the most used by the web community and it's free; WordPress used it as a plugin and it got the source fla file.
It would be awesome that you offer this skin in your standalone package; many WordPress users would probably go with C5 CMS because of that plugin made by you.

See by yourself:

Source .fla file:

=> see the 2 attached files

Thanks.

I like what is available already skin wise for the add on. But I do agree, more skins would be nice to have. I personally would debate paying for a add on that only offered 3 skins since there is a free one already available with more.

The flash player seems to work great, but after checking out the wordpress audio player, it seems more intuitive. (Simple, but still offers the options) Maybe someone can the wpaudioplayer for c5 and give it away for free and see how it does compared to the payable flash one :)

Hey guys,

The 1PixelOut player, or Wordpress Audio Player, is now included as a template for the Flash Audio block.

Bryan, I communicated it in the add-on description but I hadn't made it clear on the example page that the player supports ANY hex color as a background ... not just black, orange and blue.

If you're interested, you can check out the results here:

Hi Elyon,

I need to know if your flash audio player can do this:

- have more than 50 players on the same webpage without getting an error

My suggestion:
It would be great to have the possibility to add many mp3 files to the same player, by the file manager naturally. Unfortunately, it would need a player that have the 'previous', 'next' button and a view for selecting the audio file. Also, that would indicate:
- Number
- Title
- Duration
- Link for downloading it or an icon

Thanks for all.

Hi ymne,

I'm pretty sure the Flash Audio block will scale to over 50 instances on the same page. It's pretty lightweight, and it doesn't load the audio file until you start playing. Before then it shouldn't hardly use any memory, although I'm not as sure about how the 1PixelOut player handles its memory.

As I mentioned before, the Flash Audio block is kind of like the Image block. The "Slideshow" block, with playlists, will be coming soon, especially if there's demand for it. It will synchronize with file sets from the File Manager, and will support lots of features like titles, duration and cross-fading.

Wow!

I hope to hear again from you about 'The "Slideshow" block with playlists'. Seems interesting for me!

Cheers.
