how get an add-in to work
Permalink
Newbie. Just ordered, and thought I installed, a block add-in. How do I work it? Get it to work? Use it?
Superfish add-in. I bought it, it's listed on my transactions in the Maketplace, but not listed on my project page (on Concrete Community.org) or Add functionality (Dashboard).
Other add-ins I've bought seem to automatically install, but not this one (though created, I understand, by the Concrete Team). How do I get Superfish to be listed, and functional? Being total Newbie, haven't gotten into using FTP.

You shouldn't be using FTP anyways (it's used if you're not connected or your hosting server doesn't support CURL or you have some funky install that you've modified or you don't trust the internet and so are using the internet instead).
That's why growthcurve asked because as you said they should auto-install or at least show up as "to be installed" or something.
I don't know; I'm a noob too.
Was your site connected as a project before you purchased? (just to verify that it should in fact be there automatically)
check under licenses under transactions (http://www.concrete5.org/profile/orders/)
make sure it's assigned to your project
if it is file a bug report I guess

Thank you,
I believe I have stumbled across the problem. Thanks to Julia, I have just discovered, to my great chagrin and surprise, that, through a newbie-novice process which Weebly high-jacked everything, and Bluehost returning me to Concrete, I wound up with 3 Concrete accounts, all for the same URL. My add-ins have been delivered to and installed in these different accounts. I believe I know how to garner in all these add-ins to ONE of those accounts. Then the problem will be eliminating the others.
So it turns out there's a bug in the process all right -- in my noobie old brain.
You are all so very helpful.

Ok, in that case you'll need to go to your dashboard and connect your site to the marketplace. In your dashboard go to:
/dashboard/extend/connect
Once you connect, you should see your purchased items there, and should be able to install them.
FTP is for manually installing add-ons, especially if you're a developer.
Hope that helps?

If you're using FTP, upload the unzipped file to the /packages directory. In the dashboard, go to 'Add Functionality' and you should what you uploaded there. From there, you simply install it.
The other way to do it is first to connect your site to the marketplace. You should be able install all purchased add-ons.
