NEWBIES to Concrete5 -- Like Me -- there's a BOOK!!!!

I found the link in one of the questions/answers in this forum. It was written recently by Remo Laubacher. We was/is a key member of the C5 community. Anyway, the book's title is Concrete5 Beginner's Guide and you can purchase it (or download an eBook PDF file) from Packtpub.com. It's about $30 US and I downloaded the PDF file within minutes. I have my screen half site and the book in adobe pdf on the other half and following along. I'm only on page 38 of 320 pages and I've learned more within the last hour than I have pulling my out and reading forum after forum for the last two days. I'm whipping through this site. I've already added blocks (yup, now know what they are, how they work, how to add, etc., etc.). I've added an e-mail form, changed all the text, know how to put in animation, etc. He also literally walks you through the set-up of Xampp (for Windows) -- I'm using Wamp as my local host just because the latest version of Xampp has some issues with it's Control toggle and Wamp doesn't. Only difference is Wamp the file you'll need to drop the concrete5 files into is C:/www versus C:/htdocs as Wamp uses www and Xampp uses the htdocs. Everything else looks about the same. He even literally walks you through setting up MySQL. Plus there's a download from Packtpub -- after you purchase the book -- of lots of additional coding he's provided that you can keep in a file for future use in custom templates. If you're pulling your hair out like I was, get this book! Again, I'm only on page 38 of 320 pages and now I'm liking Concrete5! (I'm a Dreamweaver CS5 user, but wanted to use this for ease for my end users to edit their own site for simple changes). Just wanted to let you know about this book if anyone out there is as frustrated as I was (not any more).

I confirm this, and I hope that Remo comes up with another book for Advanced usage of Concrete5

I hope he does also. I was literally pulling my hair out due to the frustration of trying to learn Concrete5. Now I'm flying through building a website and the couple of problems I have had, I've been able to figure out due to what the book has taught me or I have found the answer on the forum (my google maps weren't loaded -- said "content not available during edit" -- or something like that). Forum said it's the cache -- need to clear. I did that and it worked.
I would HIGHLY recommend anyone new to Concrete5 to get the book before they start anything and save themselves and the C5 development staff a lot of headaches. It also said on the Packtpub site that a part of the proceeds of the book go back to the C5 development team which I was happy to hear. Have a great day.
