Permission Mask for admin
Permalink
Hi there,
I've got an idea for a function that would help building websites with extensive use of advanced permissions.
The actual situation is:
When creating a page with multiple block permission-based functions like "Groupcombination A" can see this block, "Group B cannot", when setting this up with different pagelists or autonavs on a page, like a centralized page for viewing event lists that is restricted by permissions, it is very confusing to image how each usergroup/groupcombo will view the page and to be sure, one needs to log in as a User who is part of one of the specific groups/groupcombos. And then log out and in again as admin to make any changes. Lots of clicking.
What I imagine is the ability to "view as group XY" without leaving the admin login, just some kind of layer, like versioning but regarding the available groups or group combinations.
No Idea if this is complicated or worth the effort, but if it would work, it sure would speed up creation of complicated projects.
If anybody gets inspiration from that, great :)
