Update to Marketplace

Hi.
I'm just getting going on c5. It's fantastic. I'm going to remodel my personal webiste with it. However, I'm hoping/expecting for a rich library of blocks to draw on.
My question is this... In the forums many people are attaching or posting links to their own blocks. Why aren't these in the Marketplace?
Thanks,
CJ

Our vision for the marketplace is far grander than what's even hinted at on the site here. Obviously, our big competitor is drupal, and we think their marketplace is crap. Every developer i talk to says "gee it sounds good, but when i go to check stuff out I'm completely overwhelmed and confused by the marketplace." Acquia, the commercial end of drupal that raised 7m before the economy fell out, seems to be more or less based around packing up sets of these modules into packages that serve individual needs well... Drupal for ecommerce, drupal for newspapers..etc..
Well we're shooting for a marketplace that isn't such anarchy in the big picture. We'd like to be facebook to drupal's MySpace. Our system will be more cross linked based on profile, won't have a endless number of confusing license issues, and when you download something you should feel confident it won't destroy everything else you've got running.
This is no small order, we know where we're heading but its gonna take time to get there. Since we did not raise any money at all, we get to take a more meandering and methodical approach in what amounts to our "Free time." You're gonna see a lot of changes in the marketplace in 09, and my hope is by the end of the year whats in there looks quaint. I'm sure there will be some growing pains like facebook has had, but I really want to keep the promise we've started with the core interface of simple but powerful elegance you can trust - and apply that to our marketplace..
All of that, and to be perfectly frank - we haven't had a /lot/ of submissions, so we're not yet really the road block here... <cough cough> community...

Thank you for your replies. My original post was made partly out of concern at the seemingly few blocks available in the Marketplace so far.
But it was posted also partly because I believe in Concrete and I want to see this thing prosper. I hear what you're saying about taking the time to make get Marketplace right. And I'm looking forward to great things.
I'm no professional at this, just an enthusiast. I've now signed up to have my personal website hosted by Concrete (I'll let you guys deal with the hard stuff and I'll just go about building & maintaining my site).
Thanks again,
CJ

we'll do everything we can to keep your trust and faith as we continue to face architecture and policy questions around concrete5 add-ons...
Please note that it is usually a bit more work to publish a block that works on every system than a quick and dirty block written for a single project.
I've built a lot of blocks which I've never mentioned. But publishing them takes a long time since the code is ugly, buggy, maybe not translatable etc.
If there are any blocks I've built that you'd like to see in the marketplace, I might be able to publish them sooner or later. Can't talk for the other authors, but it's probably better if you send them a message...
