Someone should make this an addon, I can't find it in the marketplace. Looks fairly simple, I'll give it a shot.http://blog.xlune.com/2009/09/vgrid/demo003.html...

I reckon it's not been made an add on as it's more related to the theme and presentation, rather than functionality.

This theme uses the same concept:http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/themes/flexcrete-masonry/...

Cool to know there is a jQuery library out there that can handle this kind of thing.

Are you kidding? Lol, combine this addon with images and you can make a sweet collage automatically with a set of images instead of having to organize them yourself in photoshop or something like that.

That would be a cool block, I agree.

I was just thinking more along the theme level as the examples in the link you posted are more to do with regions (including text) and not just images. For just images, yeah, that would be cool.

I would suggest using Jordan Lev's Sortable Fancybox Gallery as a starting point. Add the script above and away you go.

It would be interesting to see if you could use this at the theme level where you used $a->setBlockWrapperStart() and $a->setBlockWrapperEnd() to give every block you add to an area a common wrapper - then hypothetically, you could add a whole range of blocks to an area and they'll tile like the demo.

I would not recommend using straight the jordanlev's block code because it seems to have closed licence, so you might have some troubles with the licencing terms.

This might be a nice idea for an image gallery, would like to see it in action.

You're absolutely right, whatever licence it has, and the wishes of its owner need to be respected.

I perhaps made the assumption that because it is free and Jordan is a strong advocate for the need for free plugins, that the licence was MIT, but the plugin has the default marketplace license which is not an open source licence.

It all comes down to asking for Jordan's written consent to develop and release a derivative work.
