As a reply to this thread, I posted average test speeds for a site using a clean install of concrete5 5.7, sample content, Elemental theme, and all caching enabled. The testing was done using the cheapest A Small Orange shared hosting plan (the Tiny plan at $2.92 a month).
In the 20 months I have used A Small Orange, my default concrete5 5.7 site always loads in a second or less. Because of my positive experience with A Small Orange's performance and technical support, I feel comfortable recommending them.
