[Closed] About some files in dir /files/tmp and /files/trash

Permalink 1 user found helpful
Hi!

I would like to know if I can delete all the files that are in the directories:

/files/tmp
/files/trash

Is there a reason why they stay there?

Thanks.

yes, they stay in trash in case you want to restore a deleted theme, db backup or something else...

I've never seen tmp though

Ok.

And /files/temp,
is what for?

Thanks Remo.

Hum...

If you don't have this directory, I'm confused and don't know what to think about it.

Maybe it was added by a package, a block or something else.

It's a little bit scary :(

why??! It's a directory, not a virus.

Any package could create a directory and it wouldn't cause any issues at all!

I feel reassured. When you don't know, you don't know. There is all kind of files and zip files in this dir.

Anyway, thanks for your explanations.

I have the tmp folder in many of my c5 installs. Is it safe to clear it's contents?

the tmp folder is created on installl now, and it is used when c5 uses curl to grab a package, it puts in in the tmp directory, it then un zips it in the tmp directory and copys and renames to the /packages folder

it is entirely safe to delete this folder (because its temporary but php doesn't have a way to define temp folders so it auto clears)

trash is safe to delete as well but isn;t recommended

Nope,
The tmp folder will be automatically re-created to hold the concrete session files..
