Access denied messages

Since upgrading to the latest version of C5, I have regularly come up against 'access denied' messages when trying to do various everyday functions such as edit a block or even look at the page.

I clear the cache, this works for a while (anywhere from 5 mins to 30 mins) and then same problem.

The problem is the same in ie8, firefox but very bad in Chrome where I can't even edit a page anymore.

I'm on Windows 7, BTW.

Any idea's would be much appreciated!

Yes I've had clients complaining of this also...

Me to.

Usually when I add a scrapbook item it logs you out after adding it in so you get the 'Access denied' message.

It is a little frustrating and my clients are getting a little annoyed with it.

As you say works fine after clearing the cache but happens again a while later.

Anyone know why this is happening?

I am using a Mac with Safari and latest system but have tried others and doing the same thing.

What is the URL of the site you're trying to edit? Is it a site at a sub-directory of a webhost? Like somesite.com/whatever/ ? Is it something likehttp://11.111.111.11/~something/... ? We had issues in the past where putting pages in edit mode with URLs like these caused problems, but not reliably so. Franz (ceo) uses Chrome exclusively without incident so I highly doubt this is endemic.

Yeah Andrew, at the moment I am building the site inhttp://www.site.com/newsite/ until it goes live.

On Google Chrome on the Mac, I have a big problem with using C5 with that. I login, and when I click dashboard it takes me back to the login page again.

In fact if I navigate to any page after logging in I have to login again.

Dojodesign,

We should compare notes and see if we can come up with a reason here.

I have some websites that are the older version of C5 - I'm going to play around with them over the weekend and see if it is a version specific problem.

It's very frustrating to say the least :(

I also have a few websites in different versions and it has only really happened since the latest version has came out.

I will double check the others though too.

I have checked and my older C5 sites have no problems at all with all browsers.

Chrome won't even let me edit a block on the latest release of C5. I have turned off the cache - this seems to have fixed things with IE and Firefox but Chrome is not working.

It's a shame as I have recently started to use Chrome as my browser of choice.

could this just have something to do with a short session timeout setting?

...and perhaps then taking a long time to write content to a content block or something?

Anyone found a solution to this yet?

Can not edit sites in Google Chrome on Mac with the latest version of C5.

This is becoming a major problem for my client.

I can post a video to show what it is doing if you like?

Same here, no editing with Chrome on PC with latest version.

Was editing a previous version of C5 with Chrome 10 mins ago.

I hit this snag also two minutes ago. What I did was add content to my footer, because I wasn't able to click on the "add to main" (somehow the black bar for this has slided downward 2 cm since I upgraded to 5.0.4, so to be able to add the content I decided I'd add it into Footer and move it to Main).

When I'd moved it, I got the access denied. I was admin, so there shouldn't have been a problem. After exiting edit mode and re-entering edit I was able to edit the block further. The time for this all was a couple of minutes so there was no timeout error or something like that.
