"Add-On Releases" under Blog... gone?
Permalink 1 user found helpful
Where is the section "Add-On Releases", since today/yesterday? This was a section where one could see the latest approved Add-Ons. Since I don't feel like clicking to the last page everytime (and even then, an Add-On hasn't got to be on the last page), it's quite usefull to have such a news/blog section. This kind of news was always athttp://www.concrete5.org/blog/ as well, but they all seemed to have disappeared?
I think it was add-on you approved John, as you mentioned in the prb email. Thanks for persevering, however I now have seven lots of add-on karma?
Can someone remove the excess?

I'm assuming it's some sort of bug then, that will be fixed at some point. It was a very useful thing in the blog, and I hope it will return.
Hmm, interesting. Mine is not showing?

Welcome Jessica!
So.... moving the add-on notifications out of the Blog has effectively removed them from the Blog RSS feed which was a simple way for me to receive notifications of new add-ons. I will add the new add-on's RSS URL to my feeds but perhaps it would be wise to post a notice to the Blog to tell everyone that new add-ons have been moved so that others who have subscribed to the Blog RSS feed will not think that new add-on development has suddenly ceased.

Having moved the addon/theme releases to a separate blog, is that page actually linked from anywhere, or is it an orphan that no-one will find?
In the footer is an "About" link. When clicking this, you will see some links on the left side (like Blog). I have not seen any other link pointing to the marketplace link nor the About page. So it's a bit hidden, but you can find it though (although a bit hard, to be honest). Guess you had the same issue as me.
If its being moved into obscurity, it would be good to have some information about why it can't be part of the regular blog any longer.
This has always been a mystery to me. Why aren't we screaming about new add-ons from every rooftop? As I've mentioned before, I get a regular email from Wix announcing new capabilities which I always click through and check out. A CMS isn't defined by it's elegant code base. WP teaches us that. It's defined by what it can accomplish in the user's world and for the vast majority of users, the value of concrete5 is tied directly to the capabilities of the add-ons. The default sort order for the add-ons is 'most popular' meaning that new add-ons are guaranteed to be at the bottom of the list. The self-fulfilling nature of 'most popular' lists ensures that the add-on page will always appear stagnant. The search functions within concrete5 have a reputation for being 'funky' and hard to find things at times. For example, if you go to the add-ons right now (through concrete5.org or the Dashboard->Extend concrete5) and sort by 'recent', then 'Stylish Ordered List' can't be found even though it's a very recent (most recent?) add-on. IMHO, new add-ons should be one of the most prominent things shown because it shows a vibrant community and inspires other developers to jump in.

Add On functionality is a major factor that can sway a developer from using one CMS over another.

Please add a link to marketplace news in somewhere, people can find it easily!
Links to this from the main navigation of concrete5.org appear to have become lost again.
Bumping this as it needs to be noted and resolved.
True. The old link still works though, so it's a matter of converting to the new blog I guess. Or perhaps this is part of the Add-Ons and will be migrated along with the Add-Ons, when that is next on the list?
Yes, I can still use the page to check whether approval has worked, but its not of much other use unless its linked from the site navigation somewhere.
I would have never thought to look under the About page for add-on release news. This makes it challenging to find unless you have been told where it is in advance.
With a portion of each add-on sale going to Portland Labs, it seems like it is in the best interest of concrete5, Portland Labs, and developers to make add-on release news easy to find.

I looked at the blog and previous approvals were there, but the addon I had just approved was not.
I concluded that making the post was the last action in the process and something had gone wrong at that point. At the time I put it down to being a transient as similar glitches often happen AM GMT because that is when the core team seem to prefer running big jobs and maintenance etc.
However, now the entire section of the blog is missing, I am wondering if the two issues are connected. I haven't needed to approve anything since then, so don't know if yesterdays glitch is still present.
