Add-On Update Notification for End User?

Are users automatically notified somehow when a new version of an add-on they've purchased is available in the marketplace?

I thought you had to download it first; but if you're saying C5 actually checks the marketplace for newer versions of any installed add-on's, that's cool.

That'd be great! In fact, I was thinking of doing that manually myself, but it'd be best if it was automated through the marketplace and the user could opt out of notifications if desired. I'd be hesitant to send bulk unsolicited PM's - especially in a marketing context.

i was thinking about this a bit last night. it would be nice if we could mark new package versions with different levels of importance, in case there was a major bug or security patch. Maybe levels could be: Minor (with no notification sent out to users, not shown in dashboard feed), Major (shown in the dashboard feed), and Critical (would be both emailed and shown in dashboard feed). Critical could be marked with an exclamation mark in the dashboard feed.
As long as we're mucking around with the way update notifications work -- can it stop showing the update notification once the package has actually been updated? Maybe it normally does this and I just have a problem with my server setup or something, but the same update alerts are displayed even after I've updated the package(s) in question. It causes me to ignore them now because I'm so used to seeing them there -- which defeats the whole purpose of the notification.
We're going to add private message alerts soon.
