Adding HTML5 animation block
Permalink
Greeting,
I am looking at having all of my current Flash animations (about 120 short animations) converted to HTML5 so that they will display on Flash-unfriendly devices such as iPads and iPhones. I did one conversion using a freeware program (Sothink SWF Editor) to test the process. The resultant file plays fine when I click on it (it plays in my default Mozilla browser). But I cannot figure out how to put it on a C5 page through the Dashboard. The file itself will not upload to the File Manager (C5 4.2) as it gets an error message: Invalid file type. Any ideas? Thanks, John ...NOTE: I tried to attach the file to this post but also got " File blakes-hitch.html has an invalid extension."

Thank you PCL! That worked fine to get the file into my file manager. Now... I don't know how to put the html file onto a page. I basically want to "Add to Main" to put it to play in a certain part of my page, just like I am able to add the Flash file in that spot. Would you care to show me? You can pm me with a price for such service if you like. For now I just want to test it on a page to make sure the concept (conversion of the Flash ani to html5) works and plays well on iphones etc as well as all other devices before we move ahead with doing 120 of them. Obviously, I don't know anything about how to 'put in an iframe' and need further assistance.
Thanks, John
Thanks, John
There is a free iframe block that you could use to do this. I recommend Dynamic iFrame:
https://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/dynamic-iframe/...
To add your files using this addon:
1. Go to your File Manager, and under the file "properties", copy the URL for that file.
2. Paste the URL into the settings when adding the Dynamic Iframe block.
3. It should now display the content.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for this tip. I had a hard time getting this iframe block to work (confused about some to the settings) but did get the other one in the marketplace to work. However, it did not display my html5 animation file, and was just blank. So I added an image url from my file manager to test and the image showed up fine. So, I am still left scratching my head about getting the flash conversion to html5 onto a page. Is it the file that is the problem? It plays fine when clicked on on my desktop (in Mozilla), but I emailed it to myself and tried to open it on my Windows Phone but it didn't open.
If you or anyone reading this would like to take on this little project for a fee, please let me know as I do need to resolve it and move forward with converting 120 flash animations if it is going to be feasible. Thanks, John

Ok, I've replied to your email.
Since the files are HTML files, you may want to use an iframe to display them.
