adding / installing a theme

Hi
I am struggling to get a theme I have downloaded to work I have followed the instructions for how to do it by hand and even though it is uploaded on my server under concrete / packages it isn't showing on the left hand side under my installed files are.
I don't know what else to do to install the theme correctly
Please help.

no, what you need to do is to upload it to root/themes, not root/concrete/packages. then once you uploaded it you need to go to the themes page and look for your theme at the bottom. packages only work with a controller.php, which I doubt you included, and then upload that. If you are using a marketplace theme it will have controller.php, and if you want to use that upload it to root/packages. In general subfolders of root/concrete are system pages, that is pages that determine how concrete5 is run
If you uploaded it into the themes directory it wont do anything. You have to upload it to the packages directory.
Most of the time the theme is within two folders.
Again if your having problems its best to connect to the community.

nope. a marketplace theme won't do anything. but I think mabric was talking about a theme he/she created, which you definitely have to upload to themes if you want it to work.
Really... Weird.
It personally sounds like they were downloading a theme for the MP. Because they were referencing the installation docs.
I guess we'll have to wait and see.

yeah, i thought the documentation was the screencast. didn't even think of installation docs.
Thank you all for your advise I took 12345j advise and uploaded the theme I bought on the marketplace in to the theme pages and as you said it uploaded perfectly

If your having a lot of trouble I suggest using the "Connect to Community" feature.
