Hello,
How is this different from the material already available in the Marketplace?

Will there be new blocks there? Will there be additional information that is not in the Marketplace?

Thanks,
Matthew

do you have express written permissions from all the authors to host their things?

agreed... but providing the stuff was originally available for free and the original author is credited and he doesnt pass anyone alses work off as his own then I see no problem. Good luck to him... I think its a great idea.

I disagree. While I don't think there's much that can be done, I'm worried that the blocks or themes hosted at this site will not update when the author releases modifications. This could lead to old versions of blocks and themes being installed.

I love the idea that translations are hosted here, however, my concern lies with hosting other items that are already hosted in the concrete5.org marketplace. Those items have been reviewed, tested and are up-to-date.

Yes it's a worry and I agree to a point. But just because another site hosts or even sells 3rd party addons and themes for C5 doesn't mean they havent been peer reviewed, tested and upto date.

If we want C5 to grow we need to welcome sites like these... we need the diversity of choice.

Hello,
Before we have another site that duplicates the Marketplace, it would be nice to have a resource for more information about the blocks.

I've posted about this in other dicussions...

The Marketplace is a great resource, with a great design and lots of potential. But there is very little information about most of the blocks: no demos, no screenshots, and often times broken links.

I'm new to this CMS, and I'd say that the lack of information in the Marketplace is the weakest area of the Concrete5 world.

Let's fix that first before creating a duplicate of the Marketplace!

Thanks,
Matt

Yeah I'm flattered by the effort, but I agree the challenge is creating content not how many places can we distribute it.

We need to figure out how our own marketplace will handle translation and internationalization issues more effectively this year. It's certainly come up many times in conversations around the office, but I don't think the approach I'm looking at over at concrete5.tk is something we'd shoot for. It's confusing at a glance as to if these are add-ons or translations for add-ons. Obviously since there are commercial ones in there the former would be a big issue. It looks to just be translations, which is cool, but rather confusing to a new user to concrete5 I'd imagine.

I dunno. I see the marketplace including translation files with add-ons over time. I see adding a "translator" group to concrete5.org that can help translate individual strings the way facebook and twitter did it, so add-on developers have access to good translation libraries for their work here.

Any rate, again thanks for the work that went into building this site. I wish there were some more explanation on it of what it's for.

Also, the hand icon needs to link tohttp://concrete5.org. Here's our logo usage guidelines:
