Approving new users

If I choose "Registration is enabled, but must be manually approved." - how will this approval process work?

The user signs up through the registration form, then what? Where am I able to see users that need to be approved and how do I then approve them? I know there is currently no email notification for new members, so I'm just curious what you all have found to be the best system when using this type of approval process?

goto Daashboard > User and Groups > Find Users

You can search for users there.

If you click the little plus under the search box, you can add filters. Pick the "Activated Users" one and set it to "Inactive Users"

Does that work?

That works. I know I saw that functionality somewhere, but couldn't remember where. I know it's been said, but it would be nice to have an email notification, or alert on the dashboard built into the core. I know there are some workarounds already discussed elsewhere on the forum, so not really high priority, but would definitely be useful for high traffic sites.

Thanks for the help!

Is there any way to approve new users in bulk? So far it looks like I have to click on each user individually and then activate them. Thanks.

Check out jbx's response from here:

"When you click on the Users and Groups button in the dashboard, you get your complete list of users. On the left is a search pane. If you look closely there is a plus (+) icon. Click that and select "Activated Users" from the Field list and ensure that the second drop down is set to "Inactive". Leave the search field blank and hit search."

So that gets you a list of all the inactive user accounts. While there's currently no way to activate 'em all with just a click or two, here's what I'd do: control- (or command- on mac) click each username so they open in new tabs, and then just click Activate on each profile page.

That might save you a little time. Seems like we've got most of the groundwork for this feature already in place, so adding a way to activate / deactivate from the User Search might be a good suggestion for a future release.
