Automatic additional url after changing primary url

With the addition to the latest c5 release (v5.4.2):
"Added ability to specify whether to maintain old path when moving page"

I recalled, that in an older version (v5.3.3.1 and below) the change of the primary url automatically added the old url as an additional url (with redirect to the new path). This feature is not existing anymore, since then. Of course one can add it manually, but I prefered the old way.

Is there a way to activate this old behavior somehow?

Thanks

I'd like to add a very hearty "+1" to that request. This was one of the key reasons we first started using C5, as the system 301'd old URLs to new as clients restructure their site.

We've marketed C5 as being very SEO friendly, and highlighted that feature.

I just discovered this is now missing as I was merrily dragging and dropping away re-ordering a client's site. Now I have to track down a bunch of broken URLs. Dang it :(

Dragging and dropping should still give you the option to maintain the old path. Keeping the old path when you changing the path in place I always found kind of annoying. It was done with SEO in mind but I found I had to revisit the same page three or four times sometimes to manage the legacy URLs. I could see making the existing URL stay as a non-cannonical URL be an option when changing the URL, however.

I have been doing some work on custom URLs in c5 recently and this would not be too difficult to re implement.. though ultimately I'm hoping to move the URL generation and handling out from where it currently is in the codebase with the aim of making it more flexible and modular... But automatically generating multiple aliases for new pages (and maintaining them) are the core part of what I've been working on.
