I have a unit in my computing course which is based around creating a project. This project must be IT related and I have chosen to create an E-Commerce website. The focus of this site is below.

The client desires a platform in which to expand their artwork to a greater population. The website is the primary method to showcase their portfolio to the target audience. The reason for desiring a greater exposure through this method is to prove that the client is able to attract a base of customers who aren’t interested in art and appeal to base of customers who are experienced and passionate in art. This will assist the client for future prospects such as university and job applications.

I do not know where to even start. It's all a learning process. I have used Visual Basic before for programming but that is about if for that aspect. I do not know how to create graphics but that is fine because I will have a friend to do that for me. I have never done anything related creating a website before.

I'm making this post to ask the community of concrete5 for help regarding creating an E-Commerce website. If anybody replies to this and gives me their time of day, just know I am extremely grateful.
