Let me be the first to congratulate Portland Labs here.

I'd assumed that this deal had fallen through since things had gone quiet on it for ages.

This could be massive. There's even a chance that this could be the turning point that lets c5 eventually dethrone WordPress (okay, probably not, but possibly).

I still feel that the volunteer community could do more to help c5. In part, the community has been restricted by Portland Labs' resource constraints. I hope this contract allows Portland Labs to better mobilise we troops (note that you have to start using Army-speak now). It would be a win-win (unlike most Army engagements).

Great work, frz and friendz. I'm elated for you—and us.

It is very exciting indeed. Between this deal and the devops tool I
mentioned in there, Andrew and I feel like we’re the only people with
in-context editing back in 2003 again.

The future is very bright.

Congrats. I hope that this secures the future for concrete5 for a long, long time.
Now if you would just produce a program which would convert my 5.6.35 architecture into concrete8 instantly, that really would be a miracle.

cheers

The tools Franz mentions are good. They're not easy to get your head around but do work if you persevere! I've done a bunch of 5.6.x to 5.8.x updates with only a few minor issues so far.

Congratulations! Well deserved accolades as Portland Labs/Concrete5 has always been there for us and I can't personally say enough about the quality of this CMS product. We have been a customer since switching from Drupal in 2012 and I plan to continue using your programs/services as long as I'm Web Development Manager.

Awesome news, congratulations Franz and the team! I've been using c5 since the start, built about 40 sites with it and still think it promises to be the best CMS. Clients always pick up editing their sites quickly and easily, unlike Wordpress and Joomla!

Well done and can't wait to see where you can take concrete5 :)
I'd really love to be involved...

Franz and the team I am extremely pleased for you all. I love your product and I love your attitude.
Getting this contract must've been a monster piece of work and I hope you have time to breathe and relax a bit before diving in to actually fulfilling it.
Congratulations :-)

This is great news Franz, thanks for sharing. I don't know all the details, but it sounds like quite a coup — obtaining the equivalent of substantial VC funding without the [unwanted] external control / restrictions. Nice job; a sweet deal indeed!

Thanks, and keep up the good work.

What a great news guys. My congratulations also to the team! I'm started working with Concrete5 a couple of weeks ago and I love it. As a graphic designer I'm working every night on my new business website. I can't wait to get it done. Keep up the good spirit.
