Bizarre Edit Mode Glitch
Permalink
Hi, folks.
I'm using c5 (version 5.4.2.2) to manage a library of process documents that are edited by multiple techs. The techs create the docs (pages) that are then submitted for approval by supervisors/administrators. It's serving that purpose pretty well, and things have been going smoothly except for one new glitch that I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced. I'll try to explain...
One of the techs made some edits to an existing page and submitted the page for review by clicking the Preview My Edits button. Later, I accessed the page (which was pending approval and therefore not yet published) using my admin account and clicked the Edit Page button to enter Edit Mode and do a Version Compare. I made no changes to the document, and clicked the Exit Edit Mode button.
Normally, if you exit Edit Mode having made no changes, you just return to the page itself. In this case, I came to the Exit Edit Mode screen where I could make version comments, discard changes, etc. Not thinking, I clicked the Discard My Changes button, since I wanted to make sure I didn't overwrite anything the tech had done.
Unfortunately, when I clicked that Discard My Changes button, it discarded the changes the tech had made - deleting his version before it had been fully reviewed and approved. That suggests to me that I was somehow IN his version. Is this something anyone else has experienced? Is it a function of the admin account?
Any details anyone could provide would be appreciated.
Thanks.
