Block edits not taking effect once logged out
Permalink
I am working on a C5 site that oftentimes, flat-out refuses to accept my edits. Let me explain a bit more. I can edit text or change images in a block no problem. However, when I log out, the old image or text remains. I can log in again and the edit is correct. So, I clear the site cache and browser cache, then log out again. The edit is not correct. Anyone have some insight? FF3-Ubuntu8.04.
When you have finished editing, are you signing out immediately, or are you exiting edit mode first? It is the exit edit mode button that then gives you access to the 'publish my edits' button.

Thanks for the suggestion. I always make notes on my edits when I exit edit mode. It is almost a ritual to publish my edits.
ok, this is really getting annoying. I just spent 20 minutes with images and content. I sign out, and all of that work is gone. I have empty headers.
I check the Versions and it does not record my activity even though i provide a non-canned Version explanation and clearly go through all of the steps for editing.
Anyone else have a suggestion on what is occurring with the missing content/versioning after I log out?

Do you use advanced permission ?
When you look at the versions of your page is the current version your most recent edit, is your most current version BOLD or plain text. If it is not bold then your revision is awaiting approval.
Is the time right on the version ? Could it be possible that the edit is not yet published because it's public date is ahead of the current server time ?

yes, i was using advanced permissions. i have since changed to simple hoping the next round of edits will progress better than the last.
i recall during yesterdays edits that the BOLD version was one or two down the list. you may be on to something with the server time. the edits that are problematic occur from a remote location. I checked my server remotely; the time is 6 minutes behind my work computers. I suspect that if I make edits at work, then wait that 6 minutes that my edits would appear...
time to test this theory.
Excellent suggestions aeroclown! Thank you!

No problem, give that a shot, and re: server times.

This was just posted by frz in regard to timed releases and advanced permissions.
Do keep in mind though, that only the bold version is the approved and visible version. The others are considered unapproved editions of the page and thus will not be visible on the site even though the versions will exist and can be viewed and edited using the editor functions. If your page still doesn't show up, try going to your version list, check off the version you want, and approve that version. Then log out and check to see if your updates are visible.

My server time is 6-9 minutes behind my other boxes user for publishing. fixed my server time, fixed the issue.
