C5 - Great CMS
Permalink
I have tried them all, Drupal, Joomla, Mambo, Exponent and so on. Came across C5 this week and in about 10 hours of learning and playing have completely updated my family site. Look at it here athttp://www.colincartwright.co.uk
Got to say its everything a good CMS should be.. Easy to see what you are doing, easy to set up and modify themes (especialliay for me who knows about html but little about PHP). They are right when they say its easy to use. Look what I've done in a couple of days.
I have bought a few add-ons, my only wish is that there was a simple calendar and simple forum that were either free or just plain cheap!
Keep up the good work guys, am going to reccommend you to everyone I know!

Nice Job :)
try Sticking a spacer under the superfish block its free in the marketplace and it will give it a tittle room from the image, i had the same thing on my site :)
I believe the Discussion Block is still in Alpha or Beta or something like that but you can allways try an external forum like phpbb or SMF i personally use smf.

Thanks for the help and comments. I'll look at Google calendar - not a google lover though - they are trying to take over the world.
Also Mnkras, thanks for the tip about the spacer - I'll look at that today

you can also add spacing (margin-bottom) under blocks by using the block design panel that comes installed by default.
Thanks Tony. I've only been playing with the thing for a couple of days. I had not thought about using what you suggested - still on that oh so steep learning curve! The nice thing here is, that unlike every other CMS - its actually easy to get started with and make something useful quickly. And the people at C5 and in the forum are so much more helpful.
I was planning to save up all my questions and try and answer them myself by reading the forum first, but one sticks in mind. If you have, lets say, two or three blocks already on a page section and want to put another in between two existing blocks - can that be done easily? It would appear not?

OK, being dumb. Figured it out. Using the move feature. Firstly, I can add a new block to the bottom of the section, save, click on move and then select the block I want to move to a new position and thejn just drag it to where I want it!! Things are looking up now I'm answering my own questions!
For example, you can use a Google Calendar and embed it on your page.
