C5 Hosting
PermalinkI was wondering if anyone uses C5 hosting? If so how are the speeds ?
I've tried using Godaddy and Hostgator. Godaddy wouldn't allow mod rewrite on multiple sites and hostgator has been so appallingly slow it's pathetic!
Therefore I am looking for a decent host now that can run C5 smoothly!
You might want to look into getting a dedicated server with APC on it.

I need a shared hosting plan that can actually run C5 at a decent speed :/
Bluehost is also very nice as it comes with simplescripts for installation of C5.
Might give old bluehost a shot then based on your recommendations chaps.

Anyone know of a green host that supports APC?
UPDATE: I talked with Supergreenhosting.com and they said that they had APC installed on their servers; however, it took the live chat agent a while to figure it out and they had zero documentation on the subject. Concerning... Anyone know of a good green APC host?
Do you use hostpapa in the UK ?
I'm on the hunt for a good reseller host myself. Been looking at Green Geeks:
http://www.greenresellerwebhosting.com/...
But I don't know if they support APC or not. Everything else I read about them looks good. I'm not interested in regular shared hosting at this point, otherwise I'd just go with C5's hosting.

As far as a $10 setup fee, I don't remember that. Also, when I signed up they had a coupon for 10% off the total price (coupon here:http://www.hostpapa.com/b2e-offer... ).
Hostpapa has a pretty sweet affilate program as well...http://hostpapa.com/cgi-bin/affiliates/clickthru.cgi?id=riotaj... . ;-) Shameless plug. $60 per customer who clicks through.
UPDATE: They NO longer support APC anymore and they lack of technical support. Not recommended!
So if people are using a2 and getting good speed anyway that's great!
I like that they have a reseller option.
Every one offers cheap hosting for shared hosting and everyone has their issues. With the exception of hosting C5 on C5 Server.
I'm going to be going with A2's VPS Enhanced Hosting plan soon. They offer a year for $234.78 a yr + $15.00 to install cPanel 11.
I've been talking to a lot of companies and these guys have what I'm looking for to be able to match C5 Server in performance for C5 Hosting.
The only reason I don't go with C5 completely is that I am still asked to develop for Joomla! 1.5 and now 1.6, WordPress, and osCommerce.
I now have to start a new business for clients. Lost a few because they don't want to look for or research hosting for their needs. They want a one stop solution.
Look at A2, call them. They do have a good staff that will work hard to answer any questions you have. That what sold me on them. Their willingness to listen and answer.
i also runhttp://pfchronicles.com onhttp://www.Bluehost.com It's also nice, but a little more complicated and the price goes up fast when you want to use ssl or a fixed IP address.
so my preference after several years is still with namecheap. (good support also)
Does anyone besides the c5 guys have a review of the c5 hosting? I wouldn't mind using them to help support c5 if I can get some "unbiased" reviews.
Thanks.

bye troll.
After much searching I got myself a VPS plan with EUKHosting and they've been pretty darn great!
It's a managed linux package and their vps support guys are spot on and always on hand to help 24/7.
Also speeds on this package have been good and i'm not even running apc.

If you are in the UK, AU or NZ, chances are we could help you with closer to home delivery - feel free to PM me for info.
I use GreenGeeks for a Drupal site and I like them a lot. However, I don't know how a Concrete5 site will do on their service. Has anyone had some experience with them?
Looks like A2 is the next candidate but I don't know much about them. Any comments would be helpful.
