Hi guys
I was wondering if anyone uses C5 hosting? If so how are the speeds ?
I've tried using Godaddy and Hostgator. Godaddy wouldn't allow mod rewrite on multiple sites and hostgator has been so appallingly slow it's pathetic!
Therefore I am looking for a decent host now that can run C5 smoothly!

Not yet. You finding it good? What are the load times like?
I like it. But we have a dedicated server. That might help a bit.
You might want to look into getting a dedicated server with APC on it.

media temple has had a bunch of problems with getting hacked though... but you really do need a server with apc it really makes the difference
It's their Grid Service (gs) that has had serious issues. Dedicated (dv) hasn't been bad.
It's a shame you have to go dedicated to get the best results. I'm really only doing a web design job a month at the moment as my day job keeps me quite busy enough. So going dedicated isn't really cost effective.

I use supergreenhosting.com and a2hosting.com. supergreen does not offer APC though. A2 does. Both are great, I have dev'd dozens of C5 sites between them both and not had one single issue.
IS that on a shared hosting plan though? Or a dedicated?
see my other comment down the list, but the link ChadStrat provided for a2's APC hosting is apparently outdated - they don't currently offer APC.

Godaddy's performance was abysmal for me, I believe the separate box for the database server was the issue there.
Bluehost is also very nice as it comes with simplescripts for installation of C5.

I agree with braincramp. Bluehost is a very nice platform to work with. You can even get SSH if you send them your drivers license... LOL
Yeah I was on godaddy and it was terrible. Couldn't even get mod rewrite to work properly. Then moved to hostgator which is good but suffers dire performance during peak times.

Our starter plans (at $95/year) are way faster than any of these guys, plus if something goes wrong we'll actually look at it and give you sane answers.. (just saying)

do you guys run APC frz?
I use Hostpapa.com on a shared space. They are a "Green" hosting service (they buy REC's). I have been happy with their service but they don't support APC.
Anyone know of a green host that supports APC?
UPDATE: I talked with Supergreenhosting.com and they said that they had APC installed on their servers; however, it took the live chat agent a while to figure it out and they had zero documentation on the subject. Concerning... Anyone know of a good green APC host?

I cosnidered hostpapa but they force you to pay £10 setup fee on top of a month's hosting. Which i thought was a bit tight.

I also use hostpapa at the moment, been with them a couple of years now. I don't know about that setup fee, never run across it. Their service has been quite good, but I do find it slow at times now.
I'm on the hunt for a good reseller host myself. Been looking at Green Geeks:

As far as a $10 setup fee, I don't remember that. Also, when I signed up they had a coupon for 10% off the total price (coupon here:http://www.hostpapa.com/b2e-offer... ).

Thanks for the tip about A2, they look to be pretty good anyway, and if they have APC all the more better!
fyi - I just spoke with a2 and they removed APC (the tech guessed a couple of months ago) because it was causing problems with "legacy" code.
So if people are using a2 and getting good speed anyway that's great!

I just spoke with a A2 Tech and learn something. They do offer APC but not on their Shared Hosting accounts. They do support APC on their VPS and Dedicated hosting plans.

I am converting a site at FatCow to use concrete5. It is very slow. I am leaning toward A2Hosting or BlueHost (I already have some sites at BlueHost and the simplescript installer is nice).
Does anyone besides the c5 guys have a review of the c5 hosting? I wouldn't mind using them to help support c5 if I can get some "unbiased" reviews.

I copied the template from my site at FatCow to another site at BlueHost, added a page with some rss blocks, and it was much faster than FatCow. I am moving to BlueHost. This will be three concrete5 sites I have with them, and the SimpleScripts utility has worked very well for installations and updates.

Just to update, I did transfer from fatcow to BlueHost and the difference was remarkable. I have several low traffic sites with BlueHost and I have been satisfied so far with their performance and service.
I thought I would chip in with an update too.
After much searching I got myself a VPS plan with EUKHosting and they've been pretty darn great!
It's a managed linux package and their vps support guys are spot on and always on hand to help 24/7.
Also speeds on this package have been good and i'm not even running apc.

I manage two Concrete5 sites one is hosted by PortlandLabs which is great but expensive. The other is on Bluehost. Concrete5 seems to run fine but I am unhappy with them for other reasons and looking to move.
I use GreenGeeks for a Drupal site and I like them a lot. However, I don't know how a Concrete5 site will do on their service. Has anyone had some experience with them?
