C5 Social Network?
I've been suggesting C5 to clients who need a CMS to edit and update content on their website.
In explaining the features, we began to discuss the ability to use C5 as a Social Network/Community.
Does this require extensive programming?
We're looking for a way we can setup a template and members would come in and post stuff to their page like blog, put up recipes, images, etc. Would it be easier to just go with another software like BookEx?
...or is there an easier way to do this with C5?

Thanks Franz! And congrats on C5 Birthday! :)
There wouldn't happen to be a How-To anywhere on how to achieve this in the slightest?
I'm going to check out Ning in the meantime and show my client. If a How-To comes up, I'll try my newb hand at it.
Thanks,
Suzy

I looked at indie 911 and think it's one of the coolest, most useful sites I've seem. I wonder how much develop time and experience it took to build this site. I wonder if I should even attempt to do something like this. In the alternative I wonder about the cost for having something like this done for me.
well. indie911 got built, and then rebuilt two times. in many ways it represents version 2 and version 4 of concrete cms before concrete5 became to be.
the short answer to your question is its gonna take a couple months of a handful of smart people worrying about not a lot else.. i dunno, maybe 6 weeks at this point.. we've come a long way.. sadly, there's no "indie music network add-on" to c5 for a hundred bucks yet. ;)

You generally end up using the single page architecture to make custom entry/edit interfaces for the public and use the in-context editing for your admins. In this way concrete5 is a great framework for building social apps, but no there isn't a add-on that does what you're looking for out of the box. We'd like there to be, its on our radar, but today its more of a "cook your own dish" solution..
If that's not appropriate for your clients needs, check out Ning.
