Calendar seems somewhat inelegant, or is it me, again!

Love this concrete product generally, yes I did have to reinstall because I switched on advanced permissions after breathing! However, I've made rapid progress since them. Just purchased the calendar though and having a few issues.
Firstly a UK date format would be nice, always looks a bit amateur over here I'm afraid, but not a showstopper obviously.
Secondly I'd have liked the user( as opposed to editor) to have the chance to choose the display type (calendar type), maybe I can set up multiple calendars and switch between them, but it doesn't feel elegant.
Thirdly, when I create a new event, it uses the page type calendar_event. But it doesn't inherit from it the page type default properties I had set up, to exclude it from a page list and navigation. So as the events build up, I can exclude them from the super-fish menu by using a property on the main calendar page, but I can't exclude them from the page list without manual intervention for every event! Or have I missed something? If I didn't use the pagelist all would be fine, but I have an end user who wants it, bless him!
Ok Lastly, when the calendar_event default page was created (during install I assume). It seems to have chosen the left toolbar page (green salad mildly modified). At least it has that backround, yet there is no ability to add blocks to the left toolbar (again not a showstopper).
I've tinkered with the idea that maybe an unistall/reinstall of the calendar might be an option? Or is it simply working as specified already? Any comments/suggestions would be welcomed.

Ah ha! Been playing around a bit more and realise I can answer my second point myself, sort of. The use of 2 calendar blocks (different types) on the same page seems to do the trick rather nicely.
Any luck on the page type 'calendar_event'? I've been trying to edit the page type to match the rest of my site, i.e. menu placement, footer, etc.
I found the solution to a custom calendar event page. You have to create a page type in your theme's directory as opposed to overriding the page type in the calendar's package contents.
If you setup the custom attributes to exclude from nav on the defaults for the event detail page type, they should always be there on new events..
to speak to the underlying question: yes the calendar was originally developed for a college with multiple departments and the need to aggregate events into different calendars. It works well for that scale of problem but if I had to sit down and architect a generalized calendar add-on for an international audience from scratch, it might be a bit different. ;)

sewfan99,
Whats theUK format? Year, Month, Day? Is that what you mean? Seems like a simple template change will do that. I'll give it a try if you want.

Yes, please. Could you have a look at how to change the calendar for UK dates - date/month/year?
