Can't edit on a Netbook... not enough room for admin pop-up panels

Not entirely surprising that a netbook would be too small to work on, but for some reason I totally thought it you could edit and update your Concrete5 site on one since it is all web-based. No deal.

If you go into Sitemap, you can't even click the "Visit" option for each page. If you go to each page individually and click "Edit" you will run into a whole bunch of options you can't do.

The basic problem is that the panels disappear under the browser nav bar into the -Y space. This is probably due to the way the pop-ups are centered on the screen. If the pop-ups were, say, 60px from the top and left, you could at least scroll the page and edit whatever you needed.

Not really a big deal, though, just kind of a bummer. Just a thought. Centered popups look a lot better and feel more convenient.

I wonder what the smallest screen size is that allows for C5 editing before panels start disappearing into the margins. Anyone know?

I'm not really experienced on a Netbook, but do they have choices for screen resolution? You'd have this same problem on a regular desktop monitor if your resolution was set too low. That being said, yeah, it seems to be a downfall to using modal popups.

The netbook will display any website up to 1024 wide. The problem is the fact that the panels disappear UP into the negative margins at the top of the browser. There is no "UP" scrollbar. :)

Resolution is not really the issue. Theoretically, I suppose if I could up my resolution to 4000x36000 or some insane thing (not possible), the height would be large enough that panels would no longer disappear into the top negative margins, but it would be pointless since everything would be too small to read.

Like I said, it's really not an issue, but people are used to updating their Facebook and blogs and everything on their iPhone, so it would be nice if C5 had that sort of compatibility... perfectly understandable that it doesn't, however. Not complaining. Just figured I'm likely the first one to attempt this, possibly, so I'd mention it.

I use my 1024x600 netbook without much trouble. The trick that makes all the difference is "full screen" mode in FF or Chrome that hides all the menu bars, tabs, etc. - adds just enough height for the sitemap pop-ups to work.

Hrrrmmmmm... I never knew about Full screen mode. I was looking at LittleFox add-on the other day wondering if that would make a difference... but, then I thought to myself, "do I really need to be doing this on a netbook just because I have one? I have a gigantic monitor at work AND at home."

I was really just putting it out there. Some clients might want to blog or whatever on their netbooks and it might be something I'd try to do if I was on the road or something.

Thanks for the tip. :)

I use a piece of software called Netbook Resolution Customizer...
On my HP Mini 1000 I can get the screen to be 1024x768... hardware acceleration is out the door, but it works (no screen scrolling)...

Very cool software.
