Cant save form with mandatory field ticked
Permalink
Guys,
An interesting one here! My customer is using the forms block with C5 version 5.6.3.4. We have just moved her site from one server to another.
When she goes to save the block it wont save if she has any fields set to Mandatory, the block just sits there.
If she then changes any mandatory fields back to non mandatory it saves fine.
Interestingly the problem does not exist on my Mac or any other pc's other than those at her office - where all other PC's have the issue.
Anybody got any ideas please???
Ian

Hi John,
Just discovered this problem is browser specific. We don't have it in Safari (weirdly) but do in Chrome and Firefox on my Mac and their PC's?
???

Hi John,
Looking at Chrome console we have messages:
======
jquery.js:4 Synchronous XMLHttpRequest on the main thread is deprecated because of its detrimental effects to the end user's experience. For more help, checkhttp://xhr.spec.whatwg.org/.
send @ jquery.js:4
6(unknown) An invalid form control with name='Question99' is not focusable.
(anonymous)
========
Does this mean these browsers no longer support this function i.e. mandatory fields?

Hi John,
Thanks for your help above - seems to be a deprecated feature. I've logged it o the bug page.

The deprecated feature in jQuery is nothing to worry about.
Your problem stems from the 'Invalid form control' message, so that is what you need to trace and investigate further. When something is invalid, browsers do their own thing. Hence browser dependency.

Thanks John, let me look into it.

My customer despite using Safari to get round this for weeks now wants it fixed. I cant.
Is this something you can do please? Chargeble obviously.
