Can't stop annoying discussion notifications!
Permalink 1 user found helpful
I had previously signed up to receive discussion notifications but now I am unable stop these annoying emails. I always ensure that every time I receive a monitoring related email that I check that monitoring is disabled within the thread but I keep receiving new notifications.
How can I stop these emails?

hi frz,
I have checked the forum "Chit-Chat" header but can't see any reference to a monitor button? I have attached a screen capture to show what I see.

yeah thats the main forums landing. I want you to goto the actual forum area. You can get there by clicking the >> next to the main header. You're just changing the filter on the main area.
Here's the URL for this area:
http://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/chat/...
also a screenshot...
yeah i know that's hard to find and probably not our best design solution ever. ;)

I've checked the individual forum category type pages but these seem unmonitored. But looking at the 'addon' url contained within the notification email I could see that I was monitoring all posts related to a specific 'Add-On'. It was unclear at first as the links contained only directed me to the thread post page and not add-on forum index page.
Thanks for your help.

If you want to unsubscribe from a forum section, try
https://www.concrete5.org/community/forums...
Then see the 'Filter By Forum' sidebar on the right. Click the '>' to the right of the forum section you're concerned about. You'll see a 'Monitor' or 'Stop Monitoring' button near the top right.

Hi Gondwana,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I have tried this with all categories. They all show blank i.e. no ticks next to them. I have then gone into each one as you suggest but they all show 'monitor' rather than giving me the option to 'stop monitoring'!
I'm sure I haven't had this problem in the past. But suddenly, fairly recently, I've started receiving a constant flow of forum updates. I read the original posts by Franz but could not identify the >> symbol, only see the single >'s which you have referred to.
Any other thoughts?
Many thanks,
David

Could you have subscribed to something else, such as an add-on support area or github?
Hi Gondwana,
Looking into your suggestions. Thanks, I'll let you know

Hi Gondwana,
Checked everything. Cannot see that I've subscribed to anything! The forum updates I get are quite random.
Not sure what to do next.

Have you tried unsubscribing at the forum level? If you goto the main forum
landing page, roll over the forum areas on the right. Theres a little >>
there. Click that.
Now you're on the forum landing page for that section (eg: Chit-chat vs.
building with concrete5)
You should have a start/stop monitoring button at the top there.
If that doesnt do it, post here again, it may be a side effect of some
caching stuff we turned on a while ago.
best wishes
