changelog 5.3?
I'm about to start a new site and what with the iminent release of 5.3, I was wondering if you could give us a rough changelog.
Basically I just need to know of any major changes that may influence my design, ie things I may want to include in the design from the outset.
cheers

a specific list for 5.3 will be posted today.

Can we just have the download?

..to those who wait.
I'm enjoying.
Actually seeing it all laid out like that... just awesome!
Congrats to the core team and everyone involved, it's going to be a winner!

5.3 looks interesting.
I don't see a basic form input checker functionality (check for empty field)
Or is it me?

it's not in the changelog but it's there...
Andrew didn't list every single detail about 5.3 but the "required field" thing might be nice to know tho

thought it will be there.
Looks like this release will be a real improvement ...
good work

Most of that looks adminy stuff so it's not going to infulence the design. I didn't see the inclusion of the sucker/super-fish menu, (I read it may make it into 5.3) But no worries, if it was there I might have thought how best to utilise it, if it aint...it aint.
I dont see any new superduper must have whizzbang blocks, not that I was expecting any...I just didn't want to set the design out only to find a week or so later a new superduper must have whizzbang block that broke my overall look, because I hadn't included it in the design. But hey, it's all good and jiggy baby.
I look forward to the release

How very remiss of me to not say congratulations to the team for it's sterling work and service. Many thanks to you all.
It would certainly seem that forward tubes are loaded and course set to sink the great behemoth 'Drupal'. So down scope and full ahead!

oops mixing me metaphors there, that should read leviathan not behemoth, silly me.
the edit button doesn't work

If there isn't a suckerfish template, I'll create one.. I just want to make sure no one else is working on that...
we didn't include much of anything about block modifications or new blocks that are launching in the revised marketplace we're finalizing now..
so .. i guess there's even MORE in reality..

but Remo's right: the file mention was an oversight. Usually with core blocks we'll mention them in the changelog (e.g. including HTML block in the core, adding pagination to page list).
Change log has been updated. Whew. Big update.

I just read the changelog, wow, lotsa very useful stuff! Congrats, this will be a mayor step towards the ultimate CMS.
One litte thing I noticed while learning how to deploy C5: the placement of <cancel> <confirm> <update > and similar Buttons in the various interfaces is not always consistant. Example: in HTML source mode the richtext editor (TinyMCE?) has it's <Update> Button on the left side, most other buttons with the same meaning (confirm/save your changes) are on the right side. Maybe this is the only occurance, I'm not sure but maybe someone has the time to check C5 for consistancy with this respect. I am aware of the fact that this is only a minor usability issue but for some strange reason it happend to my several times that I discarded changes to a page by hitting the wrong button by mistake. The same happend to my wife a few times (she's converting her old handcoded website to C5 and has alot of fun doing it!)
But maybe we are both dyslexic ;-)
Alright, back to other stuff, keep up the great work! C5 rocks!

can you confirm its just tinymce? I've seen this, but only after I start messing with the configuration of tinymce from the settings in dashboard. as you start to turn more of tinymce's internal features on, you lose more of our skinning...
anywhere else?
anywhere else?
Forgot to list the "scrapbook" changes we made, which include global block support. This has been updated: in a nutshell, 5.3 allows you to add blocks to a page in the dashboard. These blocks
1. Show up in your scrapbook wherever you are in the site.
2. When added to your site, are always aliases to the original dashboard block. Meaning you can go to one spot and change behavior everywhere. No more dealing with page types (if you don't want to.)
3. Developers can call these blocks by name in templates.

These are top-of-the-bill things for me (especially the third)...
But when is it coming out? I've just sent a beta request... I'm going to wet myself if I have to wait more than a few days >_<

Just a quick thought. Most of my C5 installs are intranet w/ no internet access. Are the marketplace changes going to still allow me to manually download and install Marketplace content?
When checking out you'll be able to download the zip, and/or choose "save for later."
Sigh.
Survey results are now included in the "reports" section of the dashboard.

Guys in my original post all I wanted was a quick rundown of the major changes that may infulence design. I didn't want to bog you down with a fine grained monster list. I'm sure you've got too much to be getting on with.
